“‘Save the blacks from the servitude of the whites”: Congolese Writing about Congo on the Threshold of Independence’

IBAR Research Fellow Yvonne Reddick spoke about the author Paul Lomami Tchibamba, from the Democratic Republic of Congo. She shared excerpts from his  work that had never been translated into English before. She discussed the author’s critique of the forced labour system and colonial oppression in Congo, and showed how his books demonstrate a growing desire for emancipation and independence.
